Ken Miles Died August 17, 1966, in testing crash of Ford J-car. Was instrumental in developing Mk2 GT40 to succeed at Le Mans. Denis Hulme Died 4 October, 1992, while competing in Bathurst 24-hour race. An F1 driver of note, he won the 1967 F1 World Championship. Ronnie Bucknum Died April 23, 1992.

GT40s & Ford GTs. From the oldest surviving GT40s, two of the 1966 Le Mans winners, 1967 Ford MK IV GTs to the Ford GTs of the mid-2000s and the 2017 - 2022 era Ford GTs are on display at the Shelby American Collection.
In the paddocks of the 2023 Goodwood #FOS last week sat two very historic cars. A 1966 Ford GT40 MKII which was the first GT40 to win at the Le Mans 24 Hours and a 1968 Ford GT40 which won twice at Le Mans.

Ford eventually achieved its coveted Le Mans victory in its battle with Ferrari. Its GT40 Mk II was the machine to do it Ford’s 7-litre MkII would finally dethrone Ferrari at Le Mans with a dominant one-two-three finish at the 1966 event .
